SAR #14191

Pay attention to what you say and do. They are.

Humor: John Yoo, Bush's tame lawyer who wrote a brief claiming that torture wasn't torture and justified it under the clever rubric of “enhanced interrogation techniques”, has been appointed to an endowed chair at the UC Berkeley School of Law for his “ contributions to legal education and scholarship” specifically in regard to the divine right of kings.

Protecting And Serving: The Albuquerque PD, acknowledge far and wide as the worst in the country for its unprovoked assaults on civilians, has bought 350 AR-15 assault rifles at $1000 each. They probably should have set the money aside for the lawsuits.

Caught: Forest Laboratories/Pharmaceuticals has agreed to pay $10 million in refunds to parents whose doctors were bribed with cash, meals and travel to prescribe their drugs off-label to children. Forest will also pay $323 million to settle allegations with the government plus millions more in personal injury lawsuits.

Better Never Than Late: It turns out that the chemical Freedom Industries spewed into Charleston's water supply was far more toxic than was originally claimed. It doesn't much matter, for the damage is done and the company has declared bankruptcy to get out of paying for its sins.

All The World's A Stage: “At least 80% of fibre-optic cables globally go via the US. This is no accident and allows the US to view all communication coming in. At least 80% of all audio calls, not just metadata, are recorded and stored in the US. The NSA lies about what it stores. … The ultimate goal of the NSA is total population control,” according to William Binney, a high level NSA whistleblower.

Spreading The Word: While the government and the media keep hyping the housing revival, a majority of mortgage bankers surveyed fear that “an unsustainable real estate bubble is inflating.”

Rainy Day: For about 20 years, Indiana – like most states – has been collecting a minute amount of blood from newborns, testing it for serious metabolic, genetic or endocrine conditions and more than 50 other medical disorders that could be dangerous – and even deadly – if not detected early. Few have any complaint about this. But Indiana has been keeping the blood and the DNA without permission or authority. Just in case.

Peace In Our Time: WTI crude has fallen below $101 for the first time in 2 months, as though the wars in Iraq, Syria and now Palestine, plus the Ukraine and so on were minor details, having no impact on the world's energy supplies.
