SAR #15070

Summertime:The core problem is that there aren’t enough jobs. If you help some people, you could help them get the jobs, but then someone else won’t get the jobs. Unless you’re doing things that have things that are effecting the demand for jobs, you’re helping people win a race to get a finite number of jobs.” The new Larry Summers.

And Every Thought Becomes A Prayer: ISIS appears to be doing everything it can to taunt Western Civilization into a direct confrontation. From their lips to God's ear, or is it vice versa?

Too Much Of A Good Thing: The market seems convinced that the good times that have driven up the Dow and down unemployment and up the value of the dollar will give the Fed an excuse to raise interest rates, strengthening the dollar further and tanking the Dow by 5 to 9% by the third quarter (if not by the end of the day). Putting people to work is bad for business.

...He Is Us: “Researchers conclude they are 99% certain that hormone-altering chemicals are linked to attention problems, diabetes, other health problems” We are, in so many ways, all the enemy we need.

The Lesson: “The world is not the United States, and the conduct of inter-state relations is governed by international law, and not by US domestic law. The authors may not fully understand that in international law, governments represent the entirety of their respective states, are responsible for the conduct of foreign affairs, are required to fulfil the obligations they undertake with other states and may not invoke their internal law as justification for failure to perform their international obligations.” Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif

The Watch: Ah, we get to buy our own handcuffs

Front Line: Ukraine's military is complaining that rebel forces in the eastern part of the country are using the current truce to build up their armament. What did they think truces were for?

Remedial Action: The only thing that can save capitalism is reform, which will kill it, because “the answers start from recognizing that financial capitalism is not an end in itself, but a means to promote investment, innovation, growth and prosperity for all.” Bummer.

Conflict Of Interest: Andrews University in Berrien Springs, Michigan has told its students that having a bake sale to benefit the homeless would be un-Christian if the homeless were LGBT youth. Odd, I don't recall Jesus setting any qualifications for the poor and hungry except that they be poor and hungry.

A Spade's A Spade: The Republicans’ version of net neutrality is to completely neuter the internet, allowing their sponsors to charge what they want for whatever level of service and speed they want to provide any given content and any given customer, all the way to the bank. Because the internet is about profits, not freedom. They call their version the “Internet Freedom Act”.

Porn O'Graph: Democracy, more or less.

I saw a great quote, or quip, about the republicans in congress. Considering they won the elections this last time, why are they acting like this? Between the letter, DHS, and assorted other issues, they act like a cult that has been surrounded by the law. And they really are. Next thing you know they will threaten to blow themselves up if Obama and the democrats don't build a giant wooden elephant on the national mall, and surround it with flowers and burnt offerings.
